The goal of the program is to teach elementary-aged children personal financial concepts.
Reading logs and book lists were sent home today October 24,2013. I have explained to our students how to fill out their reading logs and have asked that they be returned to school by the 15th of January. We will be mailing them as one packet at that time.
Students need to read three money books – crossing off the box-marked money and writing the title on their reading log – as well as 17 “OPEN” slots. The money books deal with multiple concepts including need versus want, how to start a business, and are marked with a yellow sticker. The Open slots are for free reading – each getting marked off when they have read 20 minutes. This can be any reading or book they choose as long as it is for 20 minutes.
As you may remember, each student will receive a certificate for participating as will as a chance to win a $250.00 dollar college savings account.
Please let me know if you have any questions or go to www.MoneyEd.Vermont.gov.
Thank you,

Welcome to the North Hero Library / Technology log. I am excited about letting you know what we
are doing during our library classes. <o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
We will be participating this year in three reading
enrichment programs. Mrs. Moulton’s
class and Miss Aubin’s have begun reading the DCF books. The DCF program consists of 30 titles and is
designed for 4th through 8th graders. Mrs. Moulton has chosen 6 titles that she is
encouraging her students to read. The entire list is available at <a href="http://libraries.vermont.gov/sites/libraries/files/cbec/DCFChecklist13-14.pdf">http://libraries.vermont.gov/sites/libraries/files/cbec/DCFChecklist13-14.pdf</a> <o:p></o:p></div>

Mrs. Parker’s class and Miss Casey’s are participating in
the Red Clover award program. We will be
reading each of the 10 books during library classes and then everyone will vote
for their favorite. More information is available at <a href="http://www.mothergooseprograms.org/lit_red_clover_overview.php">http://www.mothergooseprograms.org/lit_red_clover_overview.php</a>

We will also be participating in the Vermont State Treasurer’s
Reading incentive. I have just received
an e-mail saying the materials will be arriving shortly and will tell you more
about the program when they do.<o:p></o:p></div>
